Knight Center for Journalism honored with prestigious award

The Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas has received the Great Friend of the Press Award from the Inter American Press Association. This award highlights the center’s important contributions to journalism and media throughout the Americas. Founder and Director Rosental Alves accepted the award in Córdoba, Argentina, in October. 

Moody’s own Raj Koul honored by ASHA

Rajinder Koul, Houston Harte Centennial Professor and chair of the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences, has earned the Honors of the Association, the highest award from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association . This recognition celebrates Koul's exceptional contributions to the field of speech, language and hearing, highlighting the lasting impact of his work.

Shiv Ganesh named NCA Distinguished Scholar

Shiv Ganesh, a professor in the Department of Communication Studies, has been awarded the title of Distinguished Scholar by the National Communication Association. This lifetime honor recognizes association members who have achieved significant scholarly milestones in human communication studies.

Celebrating 125 years of communication excellence

The Department of Communication Studies marked its 125th anniversary, celebrating its journey from a small program to a highly ranked department with over 750 students and 70 graduate students. With five research centers and award-winning speech and debate teams, the department continues its legacy of excellence in teaching and research.

Moody College unveils new Foley stage and Dolby Atmos Mix Suite

This fall, the Department of Radio-Television-Film launched a new Foley stage and Dolby Atmos Mix Suite, offering students hands-on experience in post-production sound. From footsteps to sword fights, students can now learn the art of creating realistic sound effects that enhance film and TV. This cutting-edge facility opens new opportunities for RTF students aiming for careers in audio production.

Grant boosts stuttering research at Moody

Moody College recently received a major grant to propel research at its pioneering stuttering center, the Arthur M. Blank Center for Stuttering Education. The support will allow Moody researchers to dive deeper into understanding and treating speech disorders, helping make an impact on a global scale. 

Bevo Video powers sports media experience for students

With a new state-of-the-art Texas Studios space powered by Dell Technologies, Moody students working with Bevo Video Productions now have more opportunities to produce high-quality broadcasts. The program has become central to Texas Student Media, with students gaining hands-on experience broadcasting over 100 live Longhorn sports events for the SEC Network. Moody is also expanding its sports media curriculum and plans to launch a sports media minor.

Expanding access to UTNY and UTLA programs

UTNY and UTLA have opened doors for more Moody students, offering career-launching internships with top names like Netflix, NBCUniversal and The New York Times. While these programs have grown, financial barriers remain for some students. According to Moody’s “Digital Impact Report,” Moody College is working to increase scholarship support to make these opportunities accessible to all.
