If you ever pass through the CMA or DMC, two of Moody’s main buildings, you are sure to see Moody students, their headphones on, radiating positivity as they listen to music. After compiling our top songs, we put the song of the semester choice in the hands of Moody students. Voting was conducted in and out of the Communication Council, resulting in a total of 186 votes.
Toward the end of voting, Olivia Dean’s and Bad Bunny’s songs were neck and neck. After a close call, the results were in. By 79 votes, Moody students selected “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” by Bad Bunny as the Song of the Semester.
“BAILE INoLVIDABLE” is a Spanish-language track with an upbeat dance rhythm and emotional depth. The infectious beat of the song is enough to attract listeners, and listeners who speak Spanish are brought deeper into Bad Bunny’s storytelling. The song’s meaning centers on nostalgia for a failed relationship, in which Bad Bunny can never seem to forget his past love. Therefore, the title symbolizes the unforgettable dance he had with his former lover. The track was an immediate hit upon its January 2025 release. However, with Bad Bunny winning Album of the Year at the Grammys for “DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS” (“I Should Have Taken More Photos”), and performing at the Super Bowl halftime show, the track rose in popularity once again. On Feb. 21, 2026, the track debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 list.
The rising popularity of “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” was one of the reasons radio-television-film freshman Hannah Houston voted it as Song of the Semester.
“I voted this song as best for kind of like two different areas, one being more personal, and then one kind of being that it’s super relevant,” Houston said.
One reason for “BAILE INoLVIDABLE’s” wide appeal is its sentimental lyrics. For instance, one example is the start of the chorus: “No, no te puedo olvidar/No, no te puedo borrar/Tú me enseñaste a querer/Me enseñaste a bailar” (“No, I can’t forget you/No, I can’t erase you/ You taught me how to love/ You taught me how to dance”). These lyrics show Bad Bunny reminiscing about a past relationship in which his lover taught him how to love and dance. Anyone can relate to these lyrics, whether they’re recalling a platonic or romantic relationship.
The track’s personal and dance elements, along with Bad Bunny’s relevance, made a breakthrough with Moody students.
“Every Moody student can relate to this in some way, whether that’s the people that they met through Moody or experiences they had,” Houston said.
Students can listen to this song and reminisce on the past memories they had in Moody, whether it’s their classes, making new friends, hanging out in the CMA Plaza, or studying in the DMC.
Most of all, “BAILE INoLVIDABLE” serves as a reminder for Moody students to keep dancing through the semester and to embrace the fleeting moments they will later reminisce about.
